Our organ recital this year will be given by Dr Tom Wilkinson. He holds the position of organist at St. Andrew’s University and St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in Edinburgh.
Dr Wilkinson studied at St. Mary’s Music School, Edinburgh, and was subsequently Organ Scholar of Truro Cathedral in Cornwall. In 2004 he took up the Organ Scholarship at The Queen’s College, Oxford, and graduated with first- class honours in Music in 2007.From 2008-9 he held the position of Assistant Director of Music at Chelmsford Cathedral. Since 2009 he has been University Organist at St Andrew’s University. Tom holds a Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists, a Master’s degree in Early Keyboard Performance from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD on the nineteenth-century Bach revival from The University of Glasgow.
His organ teachers include Matthew Owens and the late David Sanger. He has played throughout Europe and the UK as well as in Africa, Asia and the USA. He has also broadcast on Radio3. In 2015 he founded the Kellie Consort.
We can look forward to an exciting concert which will include some popular items.
